cakra awakening

The term “cakra awakening” is sometimes confused with Kundalini awakening. They are two distinct functions, with cakra awakening being basically an essential component and pre-requisite for Kundalini awakening. A cakra is awakened as awakened prana is applied to the cakra via a specific yogic modality-producing an inward flowing phenomena called pranic inversion. When cakra awakening actually occurs it entails the cakra shifting into another level, a level whereas the cakra is no longer functioning at the dormant frequency of the Kundalini. In the dormant frequency of the Kundalini the cakra is emanating karmic pranas out of itself and into the Ida or Pingala Nadis.

Technically, the cakras are emanating “Citi” prana, which is mitigated into either Ida or Pingala prana, or both, depending on the karmic necessity of the instance. This point has been brought out previously. The cakras core of the “bindu”, which is radiating its radial field as the cakra petals, is also the source of this Citi consciousness which is actually linked ultimately to Sahasrara via the Citrini Nadi, the causal nadi within Sushumna. The suppression of the cakra through the yogic methods as applied to the cakra ksetrams attempts to first stymie this outward flow of Citi prana that as a continuity becomes either Ida or Pingala prana, first stopping its outward flow and creation, and then inducing its flow inward, which is Nivritti. Consequently, when a cakra has awakened, it is on the verge of having its primary emanating characteristics reversed into Nivritti, which is the reversal of the cakras’ pranic flow into the Sushumna, which if sustained awakens the Kundalini in the specific cakra.

Pre-Nivritti cakra awakening can exhibit various divine states in the sadhu, depending on the cakra. Typically when a cakra awakens samskaric karmas related to that cakra are experienced, leading to actual divine intuitions, again depending on the cakra.

This is especially the case when dealing with Ajna Cakra. Ajna Cakra with its modulating role over the lower cakras, as well as having the overall mind as its base of operational experience, can be experienced as a complete state of divine realization in and of itself, hence terms with the emphasis on awakening the third eye, which is a singular aspect of the Ajna.  However, awakening of Ajna or the third eye aspect of it is not overall Kundalini awakening, and is required as is all other cakra awakening, in order to induce the Devi to move out of dormancy.

Subsequently, cakra awakening is indispensible for Kundalini awakening, with the Nivritti aroused state of a given cakra being responsible for a myriad of spiritual states, experienced prior to actual Kundalini awakening.

Cakra Awakening End Note:

I began my Kundalini odyssey on two simultaneous fronts. First by learning the yogic and tantric exercises necessary to awaken Her, and also by learning the specifics of the cakra paradigm, the spiritual modalities that these exercises affect. However, after moving well into my Kundalini ascent transition I realized that despite whatever I had thought I had learned about the cakras, which was much stuff, both subjective and objective, it became obvious that one did not really learn anything about the cakras until after the Kundalini was well awakened and moving up and through them, and ultimately back down again.

This in essence is the basis for my “de-emphasis” of cakra approachment as a means of understanding or awakening Kundalini. She is indeed the cakras, everything they mechanistically constitute, and much, much more. However, studying the cakras as a means to the Kundalini is tantamount to studying your big toenail in order to get an understanding about ones heart. She reveals what you need to know about the cakra system once She awakens-revealing Her workings “as this system” from a level you could never have accessed with thought to begin with.
